Video: at Turtle Bay, 10 minute confrontation between large juvenile and Spirit on the nest!

Turtle Bay

In this amazing video, a large juvenile lands twice on the nest this morning. The second time staying for almost 10 minutes, continually challenging the incubating male eagle Spirit.   video link courtesy of the Turtle Bay cam and eaglewhisperer18:

  1. What in the world is going on Twizz! First we have the raccoon incident at Hays and now we have this. Yikes!! In both cases it seemed the parent let the intruder get very close to the eggs. The raccoon seemed to be on the nest to long. Those eggs could certainly have been stepped on or stolen. At Turtle Bay, it seemed that Spirit left the eggs unprotected for awhile. I thought the juvie was going to sit on those eggs! I kept waiting for the other parent to swoop in but no luck. I wonder if it is an offspring as several others have stated. Tomorrow’s another day so we’ll see how things look in the morning. SED
