Kootenai Sandpoint eaglecam now online, but that eagle sure looks like a goose!

Sandpoint

Per the Kootenai Refuge Sandpoint  page, As of early April, the previous year’s eagle pair had not returned to the nest … and on April 8, a goose pair colonized the nest.  But happy to see the cam come online!   Link to cam: http://www.sandpointonline.com/eagles/

  1. Looks very high for a goose to lay eggs and I would like to ask how are the babies suppose to get down off of that big nest. Just curious and of course worried. I just looks like a long way down for new babies to get to the ground.

    1. I’m not sure what the usual height is for Geese to lay eggs, but I know of 3 eagle or hawk nests where geese have taken over in the last few years and used the nest. One at 80 ft high! and the goslings did okay in their big jump. Here’s a video of one http://youtu.be/jn-u-X04jOg it is an amazing thing to see for sure! I was holding my breath!
