Pittsburgh Hays nest – eggshell piece removed from nest – what does it mean?

There is lots of confusion and speculation on what is happening at the Pittsburgh Hays nest today, so I will provide the best factual info I can here for those who are trying to keep up.  There is a video from last night (link below) that shows a piece of eggshell being removed from the nest bowl.  This brought viewers to wonder if a hatch or failed egg might be happening.  There has not been a clear view of the egg so far today, but dad is incubating and through the day has appeared to roll the egg.  It is possible that the egg shell piece was left over from the first egg that had cracked.  We are just coming in to the main time frame for hatch at Pittsburgh Hays so no concerns if there is not a hatch in progress at this point.   All we can really do is watch and wait to get a better view.  Talons crossed that it was indeed an old piece of shell.   Link to cam: http://www.pixcontroller.com/eagles/
